General Service Scope
The 1.1-mile extension of SR 424 to SR 924 includes 230,000 cubic yards of excavation and embankment through virgin ground including a rock face. The project also includes the installation of 7,000 LF of drainage.
Project Challenge
150,000 cubic yards of rock were required to be excavated in 3 months at depths of up to 30 feet.
Project Solution
Blasting was used to process the rock so that it could be quickly excavated and placed as embankment utilizing company owned off road trucks.
